Increasing Food Stamp Participation

 

California has the lowest participation rate in the country and there are many efforts to increase participation in the state. For more information about the state's low participation rate, click here now. Below are descriptions of these efforts:

I. The Food and Nutrition Outreach Committee of California (FANOut) is a statewide effort with the sole purpose of improving the FSP participation rate in the state. For more information about the FANOut Committee, contact FANOut Coordinator Phoua Moua at the California Department of Health Services (CDHS), Cancer Prevention and Nutrition Services Division. II. The California Association of Food Banks, California Food Policy Advocates and California Hunger Action Coalition use education and advocacy as a key strategy to increase California's Food Stamp Program participation rate.
